Next week, we welcome once more prestigious Animation Director Barry Purves, who will be teaching animation to our Master students.
Barry is well known for his work as producer, animator and writer in the field of animation. He is one of the great contemporary authors, and he has directed award-wining films such as Next, Screen Play and Rigoletto. He explores his knowledge in theatre and staging, taking it to the meticulous technique of puppet animation.
Barry Purves’s films have won over sixty international awards, including Grand Prix, Best Director, Best Film, and OSCAR and BAFTA nominations.
He has directed and animated over 70 commercials, and animation sequences for films, through Aardman Animation, Redwing, BBC, and his own company Bare Boards.
Our students will get the chance to learn about his perspective and unique style in animation, as well as sharing different visions on bringing a puppet to life.
We are certain that the class will benefit from this experience, expanding their knowledge not only of animation techniques, but also of the relationship between the animator and the puppet, and how to express emotion in every movement.
