Short film of BAU in Cannes!

Last week, two of our former students attended the Cannes Film Festival to present their short film, produced at the Stop Motion Master, “From the same Thread”. For the first time this year, ANNY – Animation Nights New York – had selected 20 short films from its animation programming to be a part of the Shortfilm Corner at Cannes. Final Projects of Master Stop Motion began!

Our students from the Stop Motion Master have begun to work on their final projects, which will be two animated shortfilms with a technique and thematic of their choice. Here we see them in action! Over the past month, each group of students have developed a story for their film. With guidelines from our teachers in the Master, they arrived to a solid script and storyboard. “From The Same Thread”, produced during StopMotion Master BAU, is going to Cannes Festival 2018

We have great news! We just got confirmation that “From the Same Thread”, shortfilm produced during the last edition of Stop Motion Animation Master in BAU, will participate in Cannes Festival 2018. The short film will be screened at “The Cannes Short Film Corner”, a non-competitive section, thanks to ANNY Animation Nights New York, event where it will also be a part of. BAU Shortfilm selected in Festival ANIMAC Lleida

Shortfilm Tuning, made during the last Master Stop Motion edition, was selected in the Animation Festival Animac, and this year the theme of the event was Music. The shortfilm, directed by por Gaspare Savio Lo Vacco, Juan Vásquez, Ferran Viura y Giovanni Aguilar, was a part of the “Petit Animac” section, focused on young audiences. Barry Purves teaching at BAU

Next week, we welcome once more prestigious Animation Director Barry Purves, who will be teaching animation to our Master students. Barry is well known for his work as producer, animator and writer in the field of animation. He is one of the great contemporary authors, and he has directed award-wining films such as Next, Screen Play and Rigoletto. He explores his knowledge in theatre and staging, taking it to the meticulous technique of puppet animation. Animator Will Becher in BAU

We are very happy to announce that animator Will Becher will come to BAU in March as a collaborative teacher for the Master Stop Motion. Will has worked as Character Animator and Director of Animation in different well known projects by Aardman Animation, such as “Shaun the Sheep”, “Pirates” and “Early Man”, as well as participating in the movie “Paranorman”, produced by Laika. BAU Shortfilms: Award in Athens and Screening in Montreal

We have two great news to share with you! Two of the short films made by our students last year in BAU Stop Motion Master are being screened at a special stop motion event organized by FIFEM (International Film Festival for Children, Montreal), in collaboration with Stop Motion Montreal Festival. The short films:   Tuning, directed by Gaspare Savio Lo Vacco, Juan Vásquez, Ferran Viura and Giovanni Aguilar. Shortfilm night Edinburgh

Today, 26th January, two of the short films from students of Master Stop Motion BAU are participating in a Short Film Night in Edinburgh, organized by Cinemaattic Touched, directed by Cristina García and Ludwig Camarillo and From the Same Thread, directed by Rucha Dhayarkar, Antonia Piña, Lorène Friesenbichler y Phaedra Derizioti, will be a part of this international animation event. Puppet Construction Classes

This week, our students from Master Stop Motion  started to construct their characters for animation. Eduard Puertas, industrial designer and stop motion animator in Citoplasmas, showed them different building techniques to make a simple but efficient skeleton to animate. Starting from their own character designs, students developed different methods that were a better fit for their designs. The results are some pretty unique and functional puppets for animation! We hope to see some new animations from our students with their own puppets very soon !
